Working directly for the CEO or a senior manager can bring an unusual challenge for Personal/Executive assistants. All at once, they have a very close working relationship with this manager yet the focus of support is primarily one directional for the executive manager. On the positive side, the Assistant has direct access to people who are often inspiring, competent and at the centre of decision making in the organisation. However, reporting directly to this Executive can leave the Assistant managing alone on issues that other employees might go to a line manager for support. This can leave Assistants feeling a lack of belonging to a team, having to actively manage their career on their own, and managing pressures that are outside of their control, amongst other issues.
We’re facilitating this session with Executive and Personal Assistants to explore the impact of the unique position they hold in their organisation and how they can ensure they have the support they want.
